1 out of 5 stars The associated software doesn't work for Mac, only for PCs!   September 4, 2010

The software that comes with the scanner is only for PCs. There is even no version for Macs. If you use a Mac, you can only scan stuff into jpeg files. Then, you have to convert each jpeg file into a pdf file and then combine all the pdf files into one pdf file. This is an impossible labor if your purpose is to scan many pages of documents, instead of pictures. Nowadays, more and more people are dumping PCs to switch to Macs. I just dumped four PCs. If the software company is stubbornly stuck with Windows, this product and its company are going to die.

5 out of 5 stars Practical   September 2, 2010

The scanner is very reasonably priced. Its portability is excellent. After a few minutes you can get the hang of it on how fast to move it over the scanned surface to be able to get a good image. In less than one minute of evaluating the scanned images one is able to learn how to move the scanner. I have obtained great results scanning both color and b/w images. It has proved invaluable when the sources of information scanned cannot be removed from a particular area. Images obtained from 3 d surfaces like books have been good and legible. The included software x ocr is fairly good. The fact that the equipment does not need to be attached to a computer to be able to scan is an advantage as one can travel lighter. It doesn't work if the microsd is not inserted so be sure to buy one along with the scanner if u dont have one already. Controls are toggle switches very easy to use; included instructions straight to the point. LCD is tiny so if you're above 40 you'll need eyeglasses to see well for the first few scans. You'll memorize the location of the icons for the next scans. I liked it so much that I have bought some to give away as gifts for friends and family.

5 out of 5 stars Pictures, documents, and more!   August 26, 2010

I purchased this item to take with me to an out of state family reunion. I scanned over 500 photos and documents. It is incredible! The quality is astonishing! The old 1800's photos came out very clear, even zooming in on them. The colors are great. On the documents the lettering is crisp and clear.
You can either plug in the USB cord, or put the card in your computer. Comes up very fast.
I would recommend this to anyone who needs a scanner. It's the size of a curling iron. I can't say enough about it!

5 out of 5 stars Worth every penny.   August 25, 2010

Took me 20 minutes to get used to the scanner after that it works like a breeze. Saves me hours at the photocopier doing research for school. I highly recommend this scanner for college people you will be glad you bought it. Great quality great picture great price.

5 out of 5 stars Cannot imagine my life without it   August 24, 2010

I can scan all the research articles in the library in a few minutes. It has some trouble reaching the text close to the bindings but it is still worth every penny I paid for it. It has saved tons of paper waste I would otherwise accumulate while writing my thesis. Super easy to use and the battery life is actually better than promised on the packaging. I am using rechargeable batteries and I easily scan 1000 pages in low quality mono mode (which works fine for black and white text). I would recommend this scanner to all students who need to work with printed literature because in a few months the price of the scanner is returned by not having to pay for each page copied in the library (and you saved a bunch a trees as well).
