Are we willing to do whatever it takes - allow Him to do whatever it takes - to have a life-transforming relationship with Him? A must-read for every Christ-follower!

Francis Chan gives us a short, powerful look into what a sold-out, committed, and radical life of a Christian should look like. I enjoyed this book because it helps he to see that I am not there as much as I'd like to be. This is my second reading of this book. I read it last year when I first heard of Chan, and I just reread it to prepare for a book discussion on this. Both readings were convicting in helping me to question how my Christian life measures up to the Christians in the Bible.

The main message of Crazy Love is to "live a life worthy of the Lord" (Colossians 1:10). This is best brought to the surface in Chan's use of two quotations, one from Anne Dillard and one from Martin Luther. Both of these capture what our focus ought to be when we consider our Christian lives. Our day-to-day living should reflect what we want our overall meaning of our life to be.

Anne Dillard: "How we live our days is...how we live our lives" (165)
Martin Luther: "There are two days on my calendar: this day and that day" (137)

My favorite quotation from the book is this: "The irony is that while God doesn't need us but still wants us, we desperately need God but don't really want Him most of the time" (61).

Francis Chan has a casual writing style that is appealing and intriguing. From what I know about him, he lives up to his own advice. Now, let's see if I can as well.
